Walk as One

Walk as One refers to community engagement events which bring community members, community partners, and law enforcement together to provide outreach to identified neighborhoods regarding a variety of community issues. These events are designed to promote peace and resiliency, as well as inform and empower residents to become involved.

At Walk as One events, volunteers knock on doors in identified neighborhoods sharing information with residents and /or inviting them to participate in community initiatives. These events have included the following topics:
  • Informing families about summer programming for youth
  • Inviting residents to Neighborhood Safety Forums to share their safety concerns and discuss solutions
  • Delivering kindergarten readiness kits to families with children ages 0 to 5.
  • Informing residents in neighborhoods impacted by violence about community violence crisis response efforts
  • Delivering alcohol safety information on campus in advance of “Unofficial St. Patrick’s Day”.
  • Distributing safety and crime prevention information
  • Informing residents about mental health resources
